Lim Yong Kim is born in Ipoh, Perak. He grows up in Malaysia and believes Jesus Christ as Lord. Now, he has graduated with Bachelor of Arts in Digital Film and Television in Limkokwing University of Creative Technology, Cyberjaya, Malaysia.
Lim has been actively participating in acting since year 2003. He begins acting by joining a stage theatre performance in his church. Then, he involves himself in a stage show competition during secondary school period, and acts in short films during tertiary education period.
After shooting his friends and scenery with a mobile phone, usually Lim would edit the footages on his computer. This was during Lim’s younger days. Later in 2008, Lim was hired by Media Prima Sdn. Bhd as a video editor. He is given opportunity to digitize footages and edit few videos.
Lim was actively keen for short film competitions. In year 2010, Lim and his teammates were making a short film as a participating effort for a competition organized by Malaysian Airlines (MAS) themed on Malaysian Hospitality. In the same year, Lim and his four university-mates joined as a team to participate a short film competition, 1 Malaysia Innovation Tournament organized by Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) and Alpha Catalyst Consulting.
Occasionally, Lim would work part-time during his holidays to gain experience. In 2005, Lim worked as a clothing promoter in a department store near his house. In 2006, Lim served a bookstore, Popular Holdings Limited in Ipoh as a cashier for four months before he studied Form Six (Pre-university Education). In 2010, Lim was working in a cinema, Golden Screen Cinemas Sdn Bhd in Petaling Jaya as a steward.
After 2007, Lim furthered his study in Universiti Malaysia Sabah, Sabah, Malaysia. Among his assignments, he is given opportunity to design an innovative 3-dimensional perfume box using computer software. He was also worked out with his team member to create a computer data entering system with addition of an “Auto-checking System” feature in it.
Apart from his study, Lim was also actively organizing programs. In 2008, Lim was part of a team which included more than 100 organizing members. They set up an Ang-Pow Festival in celebration of Chinese New Year for university, inviting non-students as well. He was a Technical Director who was leading a team taking care of lighting and audio system throughout road shows and event. In 2009, Lim joined his residential-college mates to organize Mega-raya which promotes national integrity and celebrates Malaysia union-festivals. He led the whole organizing team as a co-director.
Apart from above, music is like a cheesecake to Lim. He took piano lesson in a music school since he was nine years old. But practicing-music is never fall under Lim’s top priority (cheesecake eaten everyday is not healthy). With a heart of curiosity, Lim picked up guitar during his secondary school. Eventually, he joined a symphony club when he was Form Six and learned violin. Two things to be very sure -he doesn’t play any of these instruments very well, but he enjoys music.
